BASIX Certificates
In NSW, most residential development applications must be accompanied by a BASIX Certificate. Preparing a BASIX certificate can be a time consuming, complex process with numerous pitfalls for the novice.

New dwelling BASIXA BASIX certificate may be prepared by anyone without experience or qualifications. This includes all the commitments about water and energy.
However, the thermal performance (NatHERS) certificate for the thermal comfort section must be prepared by an accredited NatHERS assessor. This service is called a home energy rating. John Caley at ecological design is one of the most experienced NatHERS assessors in NSW. |
Alts and adds BASIXThe BASIX Alterations and Additions tool is much smaller in scope than the New Dwelling BASIX but is more prescriptive. The most important part of the BASIX Alts and Adds tool is the glazing section.
We identify the glazing which does not pass the BASIX tool for any reason and propose a range of cost effective options to get them to pass, being careful to leave the choices as open for the developer. |
Multi - dwelling BASIX
Ecological Design is experienced in preparing multi-residential BASIX certificates including the NatHERS certificates for the thermal simulation section. The multi-dwelling tool includes added complexity with input required for any common areas such as stairwells, lifts, and laundry rooms.
At ecological design we know our way around the Multi-dwelling BASIX tool, making the process of selecting commitments fast and efficient. |
